You can't rush creativity out of them and you shouldn't blame them when their books don't come out as soon as you want them to.
Hence why I said:

Depending on what kind of writer GRRM is (an outliner vs. a seat-of-the-pantser) I cannot imagine he doesn't at least have an idea of where he's going with the stories beyond who is sitting on the Iron Throne at the end - I'm talking in the arena of "this is generally what happens to Bran" "this is Arya's story in a nutshell" "Here's what Dany gets up to"
Teenaged X-Files obsession + Bermuda Triangle episode + Self-led school research project = Atheist.

Yes, I saw what you said but that sounded like you were accusing him.

No, I was merely comparing authors and series' (and yes, they are very different series')

Contrary to the article Steel quoted, yes, I do think Mr Martin is my bitch and he'd better get his fat ass in a chair and start writing goddamit.

I, for one, am holding out hope that he has been late in releasing TWOW because he is working on ADOS at the same time, and he's going to release them both in rapid fire!
I have absolutely no evidence to support this, just blind delusion.

Yes... Your delusional
I think what you'll get is a situation where he holds out some chapters from TWoW and moves them to ADoS because it fits the narrative better. He's done this in the past, but it sure didn't speed up subsequent books.
In fact, it might slow him down. I think I read somewhere that he'll tinker with completed chapters that he's held over.
Finish chapter--> hold over for next book--> Tinker with chapter to fit better within it's new resting place.
I think we'll see TWoW in early 2017, but after that bets are off if he finishes. Even if he completes ADoS by sometime in 2023, I'm not sure that will finish up the story. He really needs to get to the point with the white walkers. They were one of the first things we see in the books, and not much since. The show has done a much better jobs at conveying them as the real threat.

I - for one - think, that G.R.R. Martin is just jerking everyone around. He's not writing anything, because he knows that he's old and fat and will probably die soon, therefore doesn't have much time left to blow all that advance money on hookers, drugs and cheeseburgers...
He'll probably kick it in not-too-far future, at which point his publishers will hire a bunch of mediocre fantasy porn writers to "finish" the next 17 installments of the series. Because - f*ck you, you'll buy it...
