"Historians?" Or theologians? Please don't pretend there isn't a difference.
Did Jesus exist at all?

No wonder you're so confused, if you're only spending a second of thought on it.

He's a believer. They are totally into fairy tales and reality throws them for a fucking loop.
Like I said, the source of the Jesus myth does not matter at all. Jesus Christ of Nazareth did not exist in the same sense that Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter did not exist. Even if there was a guy named Jesus preaching at that time, he is not the Bible character. The Bible character is made up (pretty sure the magic powers would give that away), and that character is the only one that matters to the validity of the Christian faith. A mundane guy named Jesus does nothing for them, a bunch of guys for that character to be based on does nothing for them, and a previous iteration of that character with no Earthly component to his deeds CERTAINLY wouldn't help them, and those are by far the three most likely scenarios.
I'm sure that Rake and Nest-Egg here will chime in with "Oh, no main-stream historian thinks blah blah blah..." fine. Don't care. The magic zombie-Jew wasn't real, regardless of where the story actually came from.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):
"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42) Also, I has a website: www.RedbeardThePink.com
The Bible says that the Jesus story is BS.
1 Corinthians 15:13-16 (NCV) = "13 If no one is ever raised from the dead, then Christ has not been raised. 14 And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is worth nothing, and your faith is worth nothing. 15 And also, we are guilty of lying about God, because we testified of him that he raised Christ from the dead. But if people are not raised from the dead, then God never raised Christ. 16 If the dead are not raised, Christ has not been raised either." So, how many of you have personally witnessed really dead people returning to life? They've made countless movies about zombies but they aren't based on reality. If you are a rational educated adult you should be able to distinguish BS from reality. The Jesus story is pure BS. The story itself says that it's BS. Go down to the nearest cemetery and see how many corpses return to life. If corpses start popping out of the ground and start talking to you then the Jesus story is true. But you will be a corpse yourself and dust before that happens. RE: Did Jesus exist at all?

Glad you're catching on that everybody in history is written into books from the standpoint of their authors.

Or a person who pretends to care about history from a logical point of view.
