My boys are playing upstairs. They're 6 and 8. Playful screams and peals of laughter echo off the walls.
That a mother could silence that is just unthinkable to me. Fuck religion. Fuck all that crazy bullshit. I know the woman who did this probably had issues other than religion, but it's so fucking stupid. The only reason religion isn't in the DSM-5 is because so many people believe in it. Otherwise it's indistinguishable from madness.

Was it Sam Harris who said that "there's sanity in numbers"? If enough people buy it, it becomes the norm. RE: 3 Kids Murdered

That reminds me of the Steven Weinberg quote. "With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." When belief in holy genocide becomes a norm, societies go mad. And sane people do insane things.

Quote:The woman, who police said may be in the early stages of pregnancy, was treated at the scene and transported to the hospital. To top it off, she will probably not have an abortion, due to religious beliefs and get to do it all over again in the name of god, the true meaning of life.
You make people miserable and there's nothing they can do about it, just like god.
-- Homer Simpson God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place within organized religion. -- Superintendent Chalmers Science is like a blabbermouth who ruins a movie by telling you how it ends. There are some things we don't want to know. Important things. -- Ned Flanders Once something's been approved by the government, it's no longer immoral. -- The Rev Lovejoy (June 2, 2016 at 7:03 pm)Gemini Wrote: That reminds me of the Steven Weinberg quote. "With or without religion, you would have good people doing good things and evil people doing evil things. But for good people to do evil things, that takes religion." It really does boil down to that. One of my favorite quotes is from Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn: "But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?” Rather than destroy a piece of ourselves, we too often look for justifications for the wrong we do upon others. Rather than introspect and suss out what is the right course by our own moral lights, we too often instead reach out for "morality" to justify our base motives and actions.

I only skimmed the story because I can't bear to read about children being victimized. In my previous line of work, I was a case worker for severely and chronically mentally ill patients. Religious delusions and perseverating on religious themes is often a symptom of mental illness. In fact, if any of my clients' religious delusions starting ramping up, I knew a trip to the hospital would come soon.
What' s vexing to me about religion is that it's often difficult to figure out who just likes talking about god and religion and who has crossed the line into mental illness. From a distance, it can be hard to tell sometimes.

She brought 3 lives in the hell known as life. And instead of making it easier for them she killed them. I may think death is gift but if you're gonna bring life in this hell then don't make it harder for them, don't hurt them, help them, don't take away their lives that is a fate that is up to them. It's your fucking duty as a parent. People like this makes me wish I could be there only to burn them. Those poor kids. And the nut is making a next one. Better abort it or put it up for an abortion.
And while she obviously has mental issues I do blame religion for this as well. The bible approves of genocide, hell your god killed kids cuz they was making fun of a bold man. If anything religion encouraged her. I wish this disease would leave the earth so that less people would get hurt. |
