I'm actually surprised by that. And no, I wouldn't care. The brain does crazy things when it's dying, and I figure the "I saw heaven" stories were just because that's where the thoughts went to when the brain was malfunctioning.

This kind of falls into the category of people converting because they're in some sort of vulnerable position in life. Very rarely do you have people living happy, independent lives, convert to religion. Unless it's a very liberal form of religion, or they just say they're religious to get people to leave them alone.

Other people having experiences is not something that would convince me to convert. The all knowing, all powerful, and all present being in the sky knows how to get me on his side, if he wants a relationship with me so badly.

Once again you guys are not answering the question.
I am not talking about people who had an NDE in general.
I am very very specific and ask if one of you which is a respected atheist in this forum would come back in here after an NDE experience saying that he-she was wrong all the way........what would you do?
Change, not change or what else?

You have not a rag of evidence to prove your idea.
Even Dr Parnia that did extensive researches on NDEs said that more research is needed to find out
whether NDEs are real or not.

If secondhand accounts were enough to convince my brain into belief in something as fantastical as an almighty God, I would already. Not sure why the testimony of one more person should make a difference, atheist or not.
Clearly, this is the sort of thing I would actually have to witness myself in order to believe.

What about if instead of being only one there would be 2-3 or more atheists that you know personally
that tell you that they were wrong all the way?
Would or would not make any difference?

I don't think you understand what a NDE is Rik. I'll explain one last time.

Someone almost dies, and has some sort of experience. The brain is under immense strain in such extreme situations, so it's fairly common for it to produce hallucinations. It "experiences" things that didn't actually happen.

If you're suggesting that these "experiences" might actually also be real, then you're in the realm of fantasy. Just because a brain experiences something, it doesn't mean it literally happened. That is wild speculation backed by no evidence.

So having a NDE is not proof of anything.

I would not change. I thought my last post made that clear. I don't care  if one of my best atheist buds came to be and said they were converting because of an nde. Aside from trying to make sure they got some help. I do not hold anyone on this forum up on a pedestal. Hell, I've had a recent disagreement with Minimalist over political candidates. If he says something I disagree with, he's no more likely to convince me to change my views than anyone else.

No, I would not convert. Someone else's experience cannot effect me in that way.

Personally I barely know enough about anyone on the forum to respect anyone on here in any real significant amount.

Whoever it was I'd assume they'd had some sort of hallucination. 

I'd really hope it wasn't the creator of this website who had the near death experience because I'd guess these forums would be fucked if that was the case.

This would make a difference to me, not necessarily that I'd believe in god but I'd think something spooky was going on just for the fact that 3 people on the forum have nearly died so coincidentally and that they all saw god.
