I've already bought the paint so I've been quoted just on $900 to do the work.

Just disassembled the majority of my old laptop, an ASUS K50IN... with the sole purpose of seeing a number, so I could buy a replacement motherboard.
Then.... so I don't lose any more screws from that guy... I had to put it back together! -.-'

A $45 motherboard replacement for a 2009 laptop.... not bad. That sucker may get to have some more life in it, yet!

Yes, but the contractor is painting the bathroom, it's the hardest part. My accent wall is done, just waiting for CD's approval.

I wanted to stick with ASUS, and wanted something decent, but not too expensive...so I went for the X555L
Core i7-5500U @ 2.4GHz
8GB RAM
1TB HDD

All the bells and whistles, except for the touchpad... my old touchpad was magical.... this one... well... it's the drivers, I think, that won't let it shine properly. It can detect up to 3 fingers, but has no option for me to decide what to do with that... so It's stuck on "bring up Cortana"... which is as useless as a 5th wheel on a Mini Cooper.
