If there's nothing in empty space, then how does it get warped by gravity?

Hi Deepak, what brings you here?

That was uncalled for. ;-) The OP seemed to imply a Newtonian conception of space as a uniformly divided plenum, i.e. a container. I don't find it particularly mystical to consider spacial extension in terms of quantitative information between discrete physical entities that may or may not reflect what people intuitively believe as distance between objects.

What I don't get is how empty space which isn't supposed to have anything in it has properties of matter, IE being able to be flexed and warped and pulled like fabric. That doesn't make any sense to me at all. I mean, I get the curve and fabric model, but that doesn't really explain anything but give you a very vague image of the direction gravity flows.
What about a space permeating tensor field...like the Higgs field?

Would not the Higgs field having specifically to do with mass conference, having been formed right after the inflation of space-time, be intrinsically linked to "gravity" conferred through space?

What do you mean by lowest end of scale, what scale?

The Higgs is kind of tangential to how gravity works - it confers rest energy to particles, and gravity is caused by energy. It could be intrinsically linked to gravity, but from all we know, there could still be gravity if there were no Higgs field.
Scale of size.

I think it's the medium of transmission of gravity and "spooky action at a distance."

Tell me what a field is. I don't want an explanation of what it does but rather what it actually is.

Sounds like a bad scifi movie.
It takes the entire universe and all it's forces to compose just one of you. You are propelled and interpenetrated by then at all times. Under estimate yourself at your own risk.

This particular one (Higgs field) I think to be a cuboctahedral lattice aka a vector equilibrium.

We use the same design for cranes and major load bearing structures, it's called the octet truss.
