Well, yes, now I remember him. At one point I actually was afraid of him coming to power. Must be nearly 20 years ago by now when he was much more influential than he is now. Going by how often he makes headlines. Back then it was quite often and there was a very real chance of his nationalist party winning the elections.

There are others as well, the Putin clique has intrumentalized to draw as many nationalist and religious nutjobs to their side as humanly possible. One of them, Konstantin Malofejew, even a monarchist and staunch supporter of the Russian Orthodox church. Very closely in league with European populous rightwing and nationalist parties which's representatives come to visit quite often.

Not honest ones. But they like honest male politicians do not get very far (or they change) in the corrupt quid pro quo/blackmail political environment.

Wish there were reliable statistics on corruption, I'm willing to bet men whore themselves out far more often than women. The tendency is more in their genetic heritage than in womens.
