Very. There are people in my family who insist we'll see each other in heaven, some who cry about it, and my sister even once insisted I wasn't actually an atheist. They're all well-meaning, and I'm not about to be secretive anyway.

How open are you with your Atheism?

Well, I'd say God got a big clue when I noted desiring to try double entry with Brett Favre on Jesus' nail holes using my shit as lube.
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
Shhhhhhhhhh!
If it comes up in conversation then I'm open about it. Most of the time it doesn't come up.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

Having to be rude to the religious makes my job even more complicated. Perhaps after I have given notice the debates can begin. Huh, I would have thought that would have been one of the bonuses? I generally shy away from religious conversations with the locals here, there is a preponderance of Baptists, Mormons (and worse, RLDSers) Evangelicals and Catholics about and it wouldn't end well. I realized too late a friend of mine was possibly feeling me out about atheism, but even if he is, I'm still not eager to go there. As for my gay circle, well, 12 Steppers presupposes agnosticism at the most, so I don't bring it up, and as for non 12 Stepper gay friends, JJ is very active in MCC and I give him a pass as that denomination rankles almost all the rest of the christers no end, tee hee! I'm open with it. I don't shout it from the rooftops, but I don't hide it at all.

I don't think I'd see much trouble from bringing it up except for the group having some concerns about sending newcomers mixed messages. And I have enough issues relating to newcomers as it is . . . . 30 years in it and I've graduated to 'Anachronism'. The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
