Leaked Xinjiang Police Report Describes Circumvention Tools as ‘Terrorist Software’
Leaked Xinjiang Police Report Describes Circumvention Tools as ‘Terrorist Software’

I didn't really feel the need to start a new thread but I suppose the staff can move it if they want or alternatively I could rename to the thread to something else.

https://globalvoices.org/2016/10/26/leak...-software/

Quote:A police report leaked last week from China's Xinjiang province describes Internet censorship circumvention tools as “second class violent and terrorist software.”

The leak raises serious questions about the consequences of using VPNs, web proxies and other tools that help Internet users get around censorship and other obstacles (like slow speeds) in online networks. While some companies offering these services are banned or disrupted in China, others are fully licensed to operate. It has been estimated that 1-3% of China's internet users use circumvention tool to visit overseas websites.

The leak, which was firstly appeared on mainland Chinese social media but deleted quickly, has made waves in a number of overseas Chinese news outlets, prompting widespread concern about the legalities of using such tools.

I am completely shocked that authoritarian China would do such a thing.

Wait. I'm not.

I use upc in your fucking country and I get Blocked By Filter against a black screen when I try to access SFW sites containing the word "sex" in the page title.

Have you tried calling up the company or going to their website and asking them to disable parental controls? Just saying, It's a common feature with most ISPs throughout the world these days. It's not really "censorship" compared to what is happening in countries like China and Iran...

Remember all the RWNJ's back around 2009 or so claiming that Obama was going to switch off the internet? Like he has a big red internet switch right there in the Oval Office... fun times.

In my fucking country? Yes, given the tendency to fall for rightwingers, my country's pretty fucked up by now, but I do think you're mistaking my fucking country for another fucking country, since "sex" certainly isn't blocked in my fucking country.

Am I the only person who read the thread title and thought it was an actual turkey, as in the bird?
