Absolute Truth revealed! Finally! Who is God?

spirit body & physical body are appendages of the Soul, like your arm is an appendage of your body!

just need to clear that up!

Complete rubbish. The soul is an ancient interpretation of what we now know is completely physical. The idea that the physical body is an appendage of the soul is just...well, silly.

1) A lot of people feel that the soul isn't just an abstract concept, Christians aren't alone in this. What excatly is known as completely physical?
2) Support your materialist view of the mind-brain concept if you can with definition and support please.

I define the soul as an entity with properties that are separate from the physical structure.

Here is a list of functions of the brain known to be purely physical-

http://www.enchantedlearning.com/subject...ture.shtml

Many of these things have been described as part of the soul, but could easily be altered by changing brain structure such as happened to Phineas Gage-

http://neurophilosophy.wordpress.com/200...neas-gage/

I have yet to hear any attribute of the psyche that could not be explained away by the physical process of the brain. Our memories, emotions, behavior, judgement, personality and so on, are all attributes given to the soul we now know are dependent on the physical structure of the brain.

Just because they can be altered by physical manipulation does not mean they are totally dependant on the physical brain. The only way they could be expressed is if the brani is physically functioning. Mutability does not denote necessary full dependance.
I'll give you an easy example. You can look at your LCD screen. It's 1's and 0's processed by the LCD. You can wave a magnet (don't do it) over your LCD and change their appearance. It doesn't however affect how the LCD interprets teh 1's and 0's or the 1's and 0's themselves prior to their input to the LCD. The LCD though would be required to be on to notice those changes.

There's a difference between information housed in and information originating from the brain.

Can you please explain at what point the soul enters the body?

Is it at the time of gamete fusion?

At the start of fusion, when the sperm pierces the egg?

Or at the beginning of chromosome joining

Or after the two sets of chromosomes have connected?

Do the unfused gametes possess half souls?

What about monozygotic twins? Does one soul split into two?

What about cloning? When (eventually) this is performed will the cloned individual possess a soul?

Also what type of soul does an individual receive at the time, or are they all identical?

If each soul is different when assigned/attached to the body, how is the allocation made?

Or is the soul business all bollocks?

Each soul would be as distinct as a fingerprint. I also believe that they all start off as a generic, one size fits all soul (as Biblically defined as the breath of life or the breath of God).
To answer the clone question, I would say yes.
How is allocation made? IDK.
As far as the rest of your questions.. I belive you're just asking, in a very pedantic way, when do we get our soul.
There are several schools of thought. Some would say upon inception (read gamete fusion). Others upon first spark of electrical activity in the formed brain. Still others when there is identifiable consciousness. A much smaller school sa's it's upon the age of reason (around 7). I'm of the mind of the first group.

I fail to see the point of your analogy. Modifying brain structure would be more akin to altering the insides of the LCD, which would change the screen's ability to function.

I agree, however, both of these are dictated by brain structure and neither require a soul.

Could you clarify your position on this issue by defining the soul as you see it, and describing attributes of the soul?

Mankind's intelligence walks hand in hand with it's stupidity.

Being an atheist says nothing about your overall intelligence, it just means you don't believe in god. Atheists can be as bright as any scientist and as stupid as any creationist.

You never really know just how stupid someone is, until you've argued with them.
