There's not really much to hope for. His running mate and his choice of staff pretty much tells the remaining chapters of the whole story. The ones that haven't been covered by what he said so far. By the way, as the story goes, Chris Christie will have a hand in that. So, maybe invest in some additional seat belts.

I've lost my faith in humanity for a long time. I'm still kind of an idealist in thinking that there will be some point in time when people are no longer content looking up at the shiny lights on the hill and don't go begging for the next buttfuck to happen. But I'm not holding my breath.

I have to say I was privileged being born at a certain time at a certain region into a certain family. But these times are over and we quickly regress to the days my parents always warned me about. Nationalists taking advantage of the commoner's concerns and leading us into bleak days.

Someday, I'll find a way to competently express how I see more hope in the gutter than I do on the pedestal.  How it warms my heart more to acknowledge that we're petty, violent, and suspicious creatures who still manage to get something right from time to time -even if only by sheer accident-.... than imagining we were a species of measured, welcoming altruists who get it right with ease.  

I guess, to me...it seems like as bad as we can be, that's just not enough to overcome our capacity for good- which is comforting..because we can be pretty damned deplorable.

For me there's a shred of hope in every major fuckup. That people might actually take a lesson from that. It has to get worse to get better. That's what I'm telling myself again and again if something like that happens. But so far it never worked out as desired.
