I know I was more than a bit critical of the whole 'Star Wars' franchise early in this thread, and expressed that I had no desire to go and see the film.

That being said, I've read the posts here with great interest, as well as reviews other places - nothing short of glowing.  And I tend to place more value on the opinions expressed here, as you are all people I respect and admire.  To that end,

How can the review of this much better movie not be glowing from a crowd that swoons over the Force awkens?

That said, take away the star destroyer, Death Star and imperial troop props, and the substance of the characters and plot would still those of be a very ordinary and forgettable action movie. It's rather less well done version of a weaker edition of the mission impossible franchise, dressed up in Star Wars garb.
