I do not hate religious people but I do think religion should be subject to critical rigour the same as any ideology. It should not be denied this by mere virtue of its
privileged position in society. Ideas can be attacked with extreme prejudice and this applies as much to religious ones as to all others. But those who actually hold
such ideas should be exempt from attack. This for me is where the dividing line should be. Hating someone for what they think or believe is simply wrong because
they have zero choice in the matter. So judging them for something beyond their control is no different in principle to any other type of prejudice or discrimination

It's one thing for a thought to be disagreeable, and to disagree on that thought in a civil way. I can move on from a disagreement of ideas, but with religious people it's not just a disagreement of ideas. They take disagreement with their ideas as some sort of prejudice, telling them you think their beliefs are stupid is a direct attack on who they are to them.

You know, it's hard because there's a lot of really nasty shit I would like to say about religious people, about how I'd like to literally torture them because they annoy me so much, but you can't say too much stuff like that because then someone will take you seriously and call the police on you, or whatever. Moralizing pricks. But how do you handle religious people, in that you can't get them to think rationally because of their "faith" which is what they use to force themselves to think without skepticism, and no matter how much you disagree with them they're always going to keep on being stupid, no matter what you do?

It's like a vice grip on my brain, when I think about religious people. They just infuriate me, and it's infuriated me since I was really young. I absolutely despise the fact that I have to live in a world with people who lack critical thinking skills, so much that they say that something exists that has no evidence for it's existence. That's basically it, it's so simple when it comes down to it. There's no evidence that god exists, none at all. But no, I have to live in a world with people who literally believe some dude walked on water, and that once their body decays their "soul" is going to live on.

They're so fucking stupid, I hate them. And you're a piece of shit if you think I'm a piece of shit for feeling emotions that are only human. Fuck you. I feel like I'm playing a videogame where the NPC is really stupid. The video game starts to be predictable and boring, and you only wish that the game was smarter. That's how it feels being in a world filled with religious people. They're so fucking stupid I want to strangle them, and there's nothing whatsoever I can do about it.

Well you are kind of fucked here then. We know the difference between hating a claim and hating an entire group. We know the difference between hating bad use of logic and hating a majority of 7 billion humans.

I hate that our species evolution does not provide us with logic at birth. Most humans adapt the religions of the societies they are born into, and that is worldwide. It is OK to hate bad logic. It is OK to hate violent people. IT IS NOT OK to assume the guilt of individuals you don't know personally.

Seems also that you are stuck on Christianity. I think you should do some time studying the myths of all the world's religions. Hindus have multiple deities and even Buddha mythology has him born of Royalty and also avoiding the birth canal.

I want to metaphorically strangle their logic. And some trends of religious politics WORLDWIDE do concern me. But we are STILL, all 7 billion of us the same species.

No they're not. No one is responsible for the thoughts they think. Control of thought is impossible.
No you're right. I dunno why I wrote that. I believe the universe is deterministic too. They're more like annoying flies.

Then perhaps you should accept the fact that many humans have a natural inclination to believe in something greater.

Well .. natural provided they are indoctrinated at birth at least. Undecided

Right. Believing what your parents tell you, when you're very young, is natural. If people had any confidence their kids would come to agree with their beliefs on their own, they wouldn't be mind-raping them with dogma.

I don't think so. Religion is as old as time. All the civilizations across the world have had their form of religion/god. I think it's intrinsic to human nature. Though there are exceptions.

Always nice to compare human beings to annoying flies.

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Blocked the annoying religious nut. I can only imagine what kind of crazy some religious person who hangs around an atheist forum must be.
