I can confirm they all sounded the same. I saw the last 2112 show in 76, a show supporting Hemispheres in 79 both here in Huntsville and another show in El Paso sometime around 81-82. I still remember wondering if the drum solo in El Paso would ever end.

Backpedalling. Here's what you wrote: "It is just about a teen who likes driving fast."

So there is a message beyond just liking to drive fast. You just don't happen to like that message. Perhaps you could stake out one position and stick with it?

Don't like the law, you work to change it, you don't break it because you don't like it. That is far different than say, blacks refusing to leave a white lunch counter. Wanting to speed because you want to have fun is selfish and narcissistic. Refusing to leave a white lunch counter is a real risk and one that is selfless that ends up creating social progress.

The song specifically mentions a much harsher penalty ("... to run the deadly race" [emphasis added]). That means what you're doing here is strawmanning the point. You need to think before you post.

You're wrong, but that's okay -- you've obviously decided to stroke your political dick here, and you've apparently turned off your reasoning faculty.

Red Barchetta

"My Uncle Has a country place
No one knows about" implying his family or at least his extended family is well off.

lol, you realize that the latter is set a few hundred years in the future, and is not autobiographical?

Teen boys certainly can have an affinity to those things, I did at one time, but I also came from the suburbs and my family was middle class. Those lines in that song do not strike me as a poor family or even middle class family in desperation.

None of them came from wealth; they were all three born into middle-class families. And their lyrics, written by Neil Peart, do often espouse libertarian views, but that hardly means that 1) their oeuvre has an agenda pushing upper-class concerns, or 2) your interpretation of a couple of isolated lines is apt.

You might want to learn a little bit before opining. You're not doing yourself any favors.

As pointed out by futuristic sound composition in the song

As for wealth Alex was born to immigrants for Serbia and were not well off, Geddy  would have been lower middle for sure if one reads his bio. Neil given his bio seems upper middle class .

Yeah I remember the last time they came to blues fest 2013 they tried that shit. The young ones have more balls then I do. Because they started booing and demanding they actually play a song  not let Neil pad out the show.

Rush, the only Canadian export I've bought.

They almost make up for the one-two punch of Celine Dion and Bryan Adams.

Almost.

Trust me Americans could never hate Celine as much as we do . After all she's a freaking separatist who lives in the states. Which is why any time I see here with a Canadian flag I just wanna punch my screen and yell". get you hands off my flag "

Geddy's mother, as I recollect, was a Holocaust survivor who came to Canada after the war with nothing. He and Alex both lived near each other in a nondescript subdivision. Neil's father owned a farming-supply store -- not what I'd think of as "upper-class" myself, judging by what I see where I live: it's a hard-scrabble living dependent on the weather and commodity-markets.

Yeah, she always struck me as a lowest-common-denominator sort of artist. Incredibly skilled technically as a singer, but pure-D shit when it comes to depth, the sort of lyrics you could write in your sleep, the sort of emotion you have to fake in Shakespeare-in-the-Park in order to reach the back seats.

As I understand it Neil's dad was parts manager for Dalziel Equipment a internal corporation. I will revise my classification Geddy as not middle class  at all .After all his mother was widowed and raising three kids on her own.

Perhaps I read Neil's description wrong, or remember it wrong, from Ghost Rider. 'T's all good. Point is that this nonsense about them being silver-spoons is, well, nonsense.

I have to laugh, with Brian on Daddy's sailboat slamming the guys in Rush for being scions.
