People dress up as Mexicans on Cinco de Mayo? I've never seen that. Around here, we just drink tequila and eat tacos.

People here throw parties dressed as their perception of Mexicans. So, sombreros, mustaches, colorfull pull over thingies, etc. Then they get wasted and yell out "Yijaaaaa" as if we ever say that.
If people eat tacos and drink Mexican tequila at Mexican shops or restaurants, cool! Awesome. But why wear a "costume" based on stereotypes of another ethnicity? So rude.

Here, it's all about food and tequila. Just stuff that comes from Mexico that we like.

Poc, my Mexican buddy (was my roommate for a few years) always spelled it Mayo. I wonder if it's regional?
