Couldn't the Holy Spirit fill that role?

I don't know why. Most of us don't spend hours debating free will and morality, so you've only got a small sample. Wink

Exactly.  I've always been more interested in corrupting a young lady's morals than in arguing them.

Haha, true but I've started a few threads in the past that took the direction of touching on both of those things. I guess it is still true that most here do think morality is subjective, though only a few don't believe we have free will.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Are you saying it looked like he was set up?

Regardless of how powerful they are, it doesn't change your human feelings of protectiveness for those you care about.

I'd only care for them and get offended on their behalf because they have feelings that can be hurt. If they didn't have feelings I'd only care about them for selfish reasons. If they didn't have feelings they'd essentially be a robot.

Well we do believe God hurts very much by our behavior and words.

Could you elaborate on that comment? I don't seem to understand what it has to do with my post to Steve or why you find it problematic.

It just looked like a set up.

Steve:  There just couldn't be any realization of the physical without the non-physical.

You:  Wait, couldn't the divine take care of that.

Steve:  Why, I think you're right.  Good old God.

You:  For the win!  QED and stuff.

Meh, god hurts very much because of mean words and such?  Welcome to the bigboy club.  I;m sure that the lord of all creation can manage at least as well as we lowly human worms on that count.  I don't expect, require, or appreciate others being angry for me. In fact, I think it's ridiculous. I suspect that a superintellect like gods would be capable of arriving at a similar realization.

If what we're discussing, rather than any actual offense to god, is the propensity of human beings to display misplaced emotion and internalized sleight towards characters real or imagined.........
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

That doesn't make sense to me. A perfect being wouldn't need to suffer in order to care.

I don't think a hypersensitive God is very impressive.

What is the perfection of the divine supposed to mean as a standard if it includes one of the most common human imperfections?
