Two words: gregorian chant It only seems better since you can't understand whatever nonsense they're saying. With protestant music it may be silly but it is sung with the kind of heart felt sincerity that can give you cavities. RE: Catholic art.

Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Hell, the Russian Orthodox Church has an expertise in all the arts, with the possible exception of sculpture, dance, and theater. Never swayed me into becoming a believer, even if I love Dostoevsky enough that I put him on my license plate.
Of course, since CD's been banned it's not like he'll read it.

Flannery O'Connor ! One great American writer. She wrote from a Catholic perspective but this is not immediately apparent when reading her works. She stated in a biography that without Jesus there in no salvation. Therefore her characters were all existential nightmares. Regardless of her agenda her two novels and works of short fiction are on my top ten list for best American fiction.
