I used to be a light to moderate drinker, but my sensitive l'il tummy can't really tolerate that any more.

I never get hangovers if I drink enough water. Drinking too much water also helps me puke it out. Drinking coffee helps me shit it out.

And sure they say coffee dehydrates you... but it's not true. It hydrates you less than pure water but the water in the coffee hydrates you more than the coffee dehydrates you.

I didn't drink for years because of the meds I used to be on. I was on Lithium for 4 years.

I'm on it now. I'm not sure it's necessary as the one time I was really obviously manic was due to an antidepressant.  Actually that could have been a mixed state. The bad thing is it may be bad for my psoriasis and could be why it's been so bad.

I've had 3 acute major episodes and been on 3 different acute wards. One manic, one suicidally depressed (and I did attempt (this was years ago, I'm fine now))... and one mixed state.

For 7 years I was told I had bipolar. Then I was told I didn't have it. I am now unmedicated. Although I am having an autism assessment in two months.

I love lager and dry white wine. But as I get older, my system gets way more sensitive (i.e. nausea or needing to use the restroom), so it is just for special occasions. ETA: Like, maybe 3 times a year.

The last mixed drink I had was on a cruise ship in '14 and that was a caipirinha. Those are quite nice as well.

That's some serious stuff. When the hallucinations first started (age 14) I thought " So I'm going to be like this for the rest of my life ?!?" and I thought about that. I'm glad you're with us Hammy Man.
