I don't drink alcohol anymore, but I rarely say no to a quick tote on a Jay if people offer.

In my entire 37.5 years of life, I’ve had:
Two shitty beers 5-15 wine coolers 5-10 mixed drinks That’s it. Most alcohol tastes like shit to me. I also don’t like feeling buzzed. Now that I’m diabetic, I really can’t drink since alcohol is just empty carbs (not that I would), so at least I now have an excuse in the very rare social occasions I may find myself in. I also don’t smoke or do recreational drugs. I’ve never really seen the appeal of poisoning myself for a temporary rush. Maybe this is another thread, but I like to cook with alcohol. I like making fruitcakes with dark rum, and I love tiramisu.

I drink occasionally. I'll have something to drink on Christmas and champagne on New Year's Eve. I'm normally the one driving myself and my daughter when we go somewhere and I won't drink at all if I need to drive somewhere, especially not with my kid.
I've had a few good Napa Valley wines recently while out for dinner with friends. I'm not into beer but once in a great while I like a mojito or a margarita too. -Teresa

Even in recovery, I can and do use beer as a marinade for beef, and a little wine on occasion. Never cared for cakes, or sweets of any sort, once past adolescence, so I've got no sway on that topic. But a nice ribeye roast marinaded in a cab, or a tritip marinaded in a decent pale ale -- marvelous. |
