If it's a short or medium size guy I'll go in straight with a flying knee to the head because nobody expects that. It's more or less just a pass time and never with any malice behind it but mostly just to make sure it'll be easy to defend myself should it come to it(just in case). That aside, I agree with CL about things relating to marriage, it's pretty common for our people to go work abroad, our church now demands that anyone that wants to marry and work abroad needs to provide a certificate that they have no relations/marriage in the country they are working in to get married in our church.

Interesting to note that your first resort is violence. Just because you saw some bloke.

And no, I did not vote for him.

Interesting that you state I am bigoted since I am arguing against religions having the right to be bigoted.

Your "logic" astounds me. As do your "manners". Still waiting for some common decency from the xtians.

Well, what did you expect when you came out of the starting gate making unsupported accusations and insults?

I will hurt you if you don't love me
god will hurt you if you don't love him

obey me or suffer
obey god or suffer

im always watching you & if you step out of line you better pray I forgive you
god is always watching you & if you step out line you better pray he forgives you

abusive relationship 101
only rebuttal is special pleading

Actually, no. God does not hurt you if you don't love him. If you think so, please provide a NT reference (since we ARE talking about Christianity).

Quote:obey me or suffer
obey god or suffer

Yes, but God is not the cause of the suffering. Separation from God (the key component of Hell) is a direct result of people choosing to reject God.

Quote:im always watching you & if you step out of line you better pray I forgive you
god is always watching you & if you step out line you better pray he forgives you

Again, your grasp of Christianity is overly simplistic. 1 John 1:9 says "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." This is clearly a promise and not a begging thing as you suggest.

next question ?

So, no abusive relationship and certainly not special pleading.

John 3:16 - "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that everyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

It is common for the Andrea Yates case to be wheeled out at this point which, to my mind, is somewhat unfair. She was unhinged and most christians would agree so.

Nevertheless, such action is consistent with christian doctrine.

Of more concern is the Schaible case and others like it where faith has had devout parents shunning medical care in favour of prayer.

Which is the semantic equivalent of saying that those who don't believe in Jesus will perish and not have eternal life.  If God holds out the reward of eternal life to believers, and withholds it from non-believers, that qualifies as a punishment.
