Free will no more leads to happiness then determinism . Because you could infinite choices that all end in misery . On the other you could have one determined path that always ends in maximal happiness . If that fatalism as ignorant loons like wooter think then he has a strange notion of determinism . Of course libertarian free will is rubbish your descions are never 100% your own . Of course we can act and work like it exists as utility .

Am I going to be the odd ball atheist free will(ist) here?
Plus I'm a Bill Nyelist.

Absurdist myself, I think. Been trying to get more to read on the subject.

That's just completely wrong. You need to stop.

I'm compatibilist if that helps. But I'm pretty sure the thread is about libertarian free will.

I don't think it specifically concerns libertarian free will. And even if it does, there is no reason compatibilism isn't relevant to the topic.

Compatibilism implicitly acknowledges the implications of no libertarian free will the same as hard determinism. Real distinction is in semantics and perspective.

Fair enough, although I don't quite follow you on your "acknowledges implications" remark.
I don't boast an incredible amount of knowledge concerning the free will debate, but it seems to me that the one true difference between a compatibilist and libertarian is that a libertarian doesn't dodge the Consequence Argument. Compatibilists simply hold that free will is "baked in" to the universe, even if said universe is deterministic. (Just to add, I think compatibilism is worlds more plausible than libertarianism.)
Regardless, there's nothing stopping you from offering your own $0.02 as a compatibilist.
