I suppose so, yeah. You mean some people - perish the thought - actually enjoy(ed) church? I just felt like an idiot most of the time... cos we went to a lot of 'happy clappy' churches while I was growing up... a lot of speaking in tongues, and 'Carpet Time' as Randy Carson put it; laying of hands and the associated falling to the floor, crying hysterically sort of thing. I think if it had been a bit more structured and traditional... like CofE, I might have found it more appealing, but that wasn't to be. But anyway, yeah, it's sad if some people still feel that need long after.... I think they'd be better off making a clean break of it... and leaving the past in the past... but if they can't, then whatever floats their boat.

I posted my evidence of why I believe the ancient Hebrews were black, If you want to maintain that they weren't then the balls in YOUR court, provide the evidence or sit down and shut up.

It's something I've always wondered about the black christian experience. Impenetrable to me, ofc, for obvious reasons...and not something one generally finds occasion to ask. *emphasis mine*
What I said was the original Hebrews were black, in case you didn't know there were 12 tribes of Israel, 10 were lost. The term 'Jew' is referring to the descendants of the tribe of Judah.
The tribes of Ephraim and Manasseh, were descendants of sons of Joseph who was married to an Egyptian, meaning that they had Egyptian heritage.
The bible doesn't state what color Moses was but it was clear that he had a black wife.
Also there's this passage from the new testament.
Acts 8:27-28
Quote:And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasure and had come to Jerusalem to worship,
28 was returning; and sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.
Please explain why an Ethiopian (which referred to a much larger portion of Africa than it currently does) is reading Jewish literature and traveling to worship at Jerusalem?
This same Ethiopian was converted to Christianity by Philip which shows that there were Christian Africans long before the Atlantic slave trade...
Oh and since you want to call someone a moron, you force me to make good on my promise.

Oh please, you never responded to any of my earlier points which shows you weren't trying to have any sort of honest discussion.

They usually begin with "what now?" My contributions are usually along the lines of "be safe!" when they ask if they should "come out" to family, friends, work-place people, etc. I've seen really good suggestions and really stupid suggestions.
To wander around to a point-like object, I think we should have a thread with a list of resources for the newly-freed minds to consult at what is sometimes a very trying and confusing time. I would hope the staff would keep such a thread on topic, removing/relocating troll posts, etc.
Thoughts?
I thought atheism was simply not having beliefs in any god, if that's the case then why would one need a guide? Do you need a guide for your non- belief in Bigfoot? Do you feel the need to come out about various other non-beliefs? There's a lot of atheist hand wringing when it comes to God though, interesting.
In what way is that off topic?

Since when are children being forced to believe in bigfoot? and struggle to shake off the shackles of bigfoot. Bigfoot as far as I know never aroused feelings of guilt in anyone, leaving bigfoot behind does not cause your family to disown you.

I think you just have to look at it as people acculturated into certain forms of socializing looking for the comfort of familiarity. It isn't the substance of theism which draws them, only the forms of assembly. Not my thing at any rate.
