Movies you hate but everyone else loves

RE: Movies you hate but everyone else loves
The whole Rambo series. And everything with Steven Segal. And the Goonies.

The Matrix.  All of it.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

You only need to see a portion before you walk out or change the channel.

RE: Movies you hate but everyone else loves
I don't think this deserves a new thread, it's not exactly a derail.  This is my list of movies I love that I can't believe you people hate.

Trainspotting - I've read the sequal and the prequal and I love pretty much every story by Irvine Welsh.  I love the original film, and I've watched and read Acid House.

Titanic.  I thought it would be bad but I actually liked it but it's been a while since I've seen it.

Forrest Gump.  I think if you don't get emotional while watching this film you have no soul.

The Karate Kid.  I think every negative thing said about the film is true, but I just see it as a kid's film and I think for kids it was a good film, I liked it when I was a kid anyway. The 80s soundtrack is fucking amazing.

Dumb and Dumber - again it has been ages since I've watched this but it made me laugh when I was a kid.

The goonies.  Yet again I might be judging this from my childhood memories but even when I watch clips of it now I get a sentimental feeling. It's a bunch of kids going into a cave hunting pirate treasure in the 80s.  I don't think a film like that CAN possible be bad.

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

^^^ Yeah, I gotta agree, this thread is making me say "WTF!? How can you hate that movie?" again and again... but it seems apropos.

Anyway, my $0.02: Citizen Kane.

I was SO hyped for it. Everyone was saying "best film ever"... And I just didn't think it was all that great.

I watched this movie because it is frequently mentioned by people and is on movie lists as one of the best sf movies of all time, but I really don't get why. The movie is literally one SF cliche after another. I don't get what's so great. Even as it was heading toward the ending I was thinking "I hope they don't end it with going down with the bomb like in Dr. Strangelove" and yep.

Although I can do a great Forest Gump, I always hated that movie. Another one I never liked was the Leonardo Dicaprio Titanic.

I saw Forrest Gump when it first came out. It was awful! Fortunately, I never had to see it again. Bleh.

But wait, why would Kylo lie?  Rolleyes
