Bears with feet burned in the Thomas fire were healed quicker by wrapping tilapia skin around the feet. Apparently the skin is high in collagen which speeds up the healing process.

On a side note this got me thinking. What animal would I/you be willing to kill to save another? (don't include invasive species) A fish for a bear seems like an easy choice. My guess is that it comes down to emotional (not pet) attachments.

Mammals > Birds/Reptiles > Fish > Plants > Insects > Bacteria > Viruses

Pests like rodents might fall into insect category depending on situation. Might be some things I'm forgetting.

Controlling the grey squirrel population for the sake of the red squirrels would be an example that springs to my mind. Red populations have suffered in the UK due to the introduction of greys. Grey squirrel populations on the other hand are flourishing.

I caught that story too, I was like "right on!" Cleaning two tilapia to save a bear does seem like an easy one.  Bears are thin on the ground, we can have as many tilapia as we care to spawn and brood.  

I don't really have much in the way of floating reservations to killing, or to killing one to save another..regardless of species.  Give me a passable reason and I'll grab my gun, set the traps, rig the nets, mix the poison, drain the lake, damn the creek, burn the forest, assault the housing block.....whatevs.
