I don't have faith and can live well like that. My family on the other hand can't.

Do they believe in heaven?

I feel kind of awkward that he's proud of a lie, but he can't handle the truth, my entire family can't handle the truth.
There are others in worse situations than me, but I can't help but be scared of the future. I really want to come out some day, but at the same time I'm afraid of their reactions. I told myself that it will not matter after I'll become financially stable, but everytime someone close to me tells me that christianity is good I feel awkward.

I told my parents that I didn't like church at all aound 9-10 y o. I still stook with yourh groups because it was fun and there really wasn't much god talk. Masses are boring.

I do believe being honest is better for you, or it will rot you inside keeping a lie. And if your parents are trying to be christ-like they won't disown you.

Dad told me he believes in an after life. He didn't call it Heaven.

Ok, so many unanswered questions. So much you left out in your OP.

1. How old are you?
2. Are you employed.
3. Are you counting on them for future funding (i.e. college tuition, etc.)?
4. What denomination are they?
Because the way you describe them makes me think that they are a lot more relax about god than you are claiming and that NO chastisement will
come your way if you reveal your true thoughts.
5. Get educated about the Bible. Every educated atheist knows that the Bible is the Bible's worst enemy. Trust me.

Honestly, if this makes him happy, I don't see a point in coming out at all. Is your life as an atheist really that different from that your father thinks you live as a Christian?

I suppose it was easier for me because A) I had a horrifying experience in my religious grade school, B) as a result of A, it was easier for them to understand why I left Christianity, C) the church in question we went to was really corrupt, and by the end, we were Easter-and-Christmas Christians at best, and D) my mother ended up the only one who still believed in God by the end, and I disliked her so I was fine with not meeting her approval in this way.

Well, that and the friction that inevitably comes after 2000 years of moral and scientific progress starts pushing it off its pedestal.

RE: My dad is proud of a lie
My parents were funditard Pentecostal.  If you don't have any Fundamentalist Pentecostals where you are, they believe that the Bible was literally written by God, is perfect down to every letter, and that anyone who disagrees with their beliefs is possessed by devils and deserves to be in hell.  I went away to college and was FREE!!!!  FREE!!!  The first thing that went away without a twinge of guilt was church. But I lied to them and told them I was going to 2nd Presbyterian (not the right denomination but in walking distance and . . . Christian, so ok) every Sunday.  I kept this up for 3 years.  The church was in my walking route to college classes, so I would pick up bulletins.  I sent a few home.

I can't judge anyone for lying about something like this.  It all depends upon how religious the parents are and how brave the child is.  Part of my reasoning was that my parents would go completely ballistic and disown me.  (They did.  A few years later, when I 'fessed up.)  The other part was solely monetary - I was on full scholarship with work study but they did send some money and I didn't know how I would finish my degree without their support. I eventually got three advanced degrees without their support.  You will make your own way.
