You?

I've done almost everything Big Grin. I've always been into sprints and horizontal jumps, but in high school I moved up to the 400m and then tried and loved hurdles, so 400 metre Hurdles is my main event now. Also I focused on the heptathlon for a few years, but it's a bit much to try to train for 7 events at the university level. I've done a lot of cross country too (despite hating it with a passion, I don't know why, but I couldn't bring myself to quit until uni), and last year I was into half-marathon kind of distances. But overall hurdle events are my favorite.

I've come to the conclusion that I don't have enough information to make an informed decision on this issue.

I think sometimes that is the wisest stance

I really wanted to do sprints in track. I was really fast and think I would have done really well in it. But my coach said it would mess up my long distance because you use the muscles differently, and since cross was my main thing, I settled with mid distance. Ahhh... I miss high school so much... I think I'm one of the few people who loved high school lol. And sports was the main reason why.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

You can't measure the overall athleticism of a gender on sports. Athleticism is a set of characteristics that a person can have even if they've never played a sport in their lives.

Not what I originally posted, I posted that both genders in the same events of the Olympics have different levels (male being much higher level) for example quicker sprinting times and higher jumping lengths. Not that there are more male than female events. Now if the levels of athletic ability are different in the exact same Olympic events, it means males are more athletic than females.

It seems what I'm conveying is being completely lost. I'm giving up.

Yeah, I'll talk about it and ask questions, but I definitely don't have a side in this debate.

Hehehe, I get ya Shell....i think.  We're all born with the potential for athleticism because it's innate to our species regardless of gender.  Any comments regarding the "relative athleticism" of gender are and can only be limited to the small subset that competes in some specific game with specific conditions and necessarrily excludes anyone ho doesn;t compete or any other metrics of determing athleticism either in general or in relation to gender disparity (real or imagined).

It would be like saying..because bobby fisher was good and most of the pro chess circuit is male..."males are better at chess". That's ludicrous, the data set, even accepted without qualm on it;s own grounds, is insufficient to make such a binding general declaration.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. If there were a puppy clubbing circuit in the us, I'd be a ringer...I'd even wager that I'd be better than most females at puppyclubbing.  To declare me, as a male - or males in general by reference to me "more athletic" on those grounds would make me giggle while I was clubbing puppies.

I'm just better at clubbing puppies because I know that their flesh is delicious and unspoiled by work. I doubt I'd play unless we got to eat them. The presence of penis is conspicuously absent in any explanation of why I can club puppies like a boss. I'm just a fundamentally hangry person. I come by it natural, my grandmother is fucking -evil-. Wink

You are roasting her? Because chess is considered athletic...

Anyway it was about sports so why bring unmentioned mystery athleticism in?

Thread was literally about sporting competitiveness!

I didn't bring the term athleticism into it. Athleticism is perfectly well-defined. You know, like contingent is well-defined. Tongue
