Explaining What Happens After Death
#11
RE: Explaining What Happens After Death
Even if consciousness (or things like it) isn't exclusive to brains, it is at least exclusive to living things (following the evidence). I personally find it silly to suggest that consciousness/experience/awareness is something that just pops up out of nowhere at some point on an evolutionary scale. I think it's far more likely to be gradual.

Anyhow, it's still very much all connected to a living body of some sort; an emergent property of such. It's never been even remotely observed to be otherwise, so there's no reason yet to think it can be.

It is also worth noting that even living brains lack consciousness when in certain states (like when under anesthesia). So a living brain is not all that is required. The brain must also be in a conscious state.

Several articles I've recently read. I will link one specifically: http://www.collective-evolution.com/2014...ver-of-it/ I will link more if need be. Nor am I suggesting the source is trustworthy per se.

I'm saying my definition on what consciousness is has changed. I am not saying emphatically that it can live outside your body. Logically, I would think that it could not. But since the definition is so varied, I can't seem to pin down a consensus idea of what consciousness is.

That's a woo site right there. There's your problem.

Confirmation bias will always steer a person to a website that he subconsciously agrees with (or wish to agree with) ...It's that simple!

It must be true. The Illuminati told me!

Which seems to explain the overwhelming popularity of porn sites.

Lots of things happen after death.
Just none of them to you.

After death you will only exist in the memory of those who knew you, asking where you go after that is like asking where the music goes when the band stops playing

Yeah? So why do I keep hearing voices in my head if no one is around talking to me?

Silly question. Everyone already knows and doesn't like the answer.

It's exactly like before you were born. You're dead. No consciousness, no thought, no you, nothing, zero, nada, zilch.

Not even a dial tone.

You've already done it, and you go back to that exact state.
