I broached The subject once, saw her get uncomfortable and retort there just had to be something even if she didn't know what, and thus I never raised it again.
I suspect she might just be afraid of death. Or, i don't know, maybe she be counting on satan?

There are limits to what other male friends will tolerate in regards to a buddy being 'pussy whipped'.

I've heard talk of one of the neighbors here being euthanized if he doesn't start showing some improvement.  Frankly, I think if approached, he would accept death gladly, it being a relief from his perpetual torment with his spouse.

I personally do not weight beliefs in the black-and-white way as the OP. With respect to plausibility and reasonableness, there are differences of degree between various beliefs.

I think I've been consistent that Mormonism and Scientology are especially false.

I think my imprimatur of respect towards Baneemyism/The Conjespresites is appropriately understood by most.

Yeah, atheism is a simple result of scepticism, along with rejecting all other ill-defined nonsense woo. The reverse isn't always true, as has been noted. Some atheist are not sceptics, and could be atheists for any number of weird reasons. They may not even necessarily have a reason further than not giving it much thought. This last is (I guess) fairly likely in countries like mine where religion/God is a total irrelevancy to everyday life.

Nope.  0 evidence = 0 evidence.

Theists suffer from that little math problem every day.

Why would you think that an afterlife has o be granted?

Many Buddhists believe that there is an afterlife, yet don't believe in gods.

Maybe it is just part of the nature of the universe, no gods necessary.

I don't believe it for a second, but not sure why it has to be contingent on a deity.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

The bizarre implication I pick up over and over from some theists is that someone's belief about afterlives decides whether they get an afterlife or not.

This is of course absurd. At most, it could affect what kind you get, if there really is some terminally bored gatekeeper assigning afterlife quality based on people's beliefs about those afterlives. But that's such a convoluted scenario that it's not worth taking seriously. You may as well worry that your beliefs about shoes decide your quality of afterlife, due to some hypothetical shoe-obsessed superbeing.

You have a point, we could rate them most to least plausible, though mileage might vary:

Astrology
Antivaxxers
Palm reading
Mormons
Scientologists
Supernatural (as described in the holy books)
Divine miracles (as described in the holy books)
Flatearthers
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.
