Just found out "Artemis Fowl" is coming to the big screen!
Then I find that Disney is cramming the first three books into one film.
Disney, the kings of milking stories is passing up an eight movie franchise?!? Hey Disney...
This one's gonna be a Red Box rental.

I like Disney, but I am unfamiliar with "Artemis Fowl".

Starting to nod off after digging trenches and pouring concrete all day. Getting old sucks. I used to do this shit all day long and still be able to make it twice a night, if my wife could stand it.

A teenage genius, Artemis captures Holly Short, who is a Fairy and a captain of the LEPrecon (Lower Elements Police Recon), in the first book and holds her for ransom (gold) to exploit the magical Fairy People and restore his family's fortune. In the sequel, Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident, he allies with the Fairies to rescue his father from the Russian Mafia. The series introduces Artemis as an anti-hero and the fairies' enemy, but as the series progresses, he assists the Fairies in resolving conflicts with worldwide ramifications, with Artemis's character developing and changing throughout the chronology. The series concluded with Artemis Fowl: The Last Guardian, released July 2012. (
cribbed from here)
Eoin Colfer took fairy tales, technologies and a twelve year old criminal mastermind and made an amazing world of it all. Now Disney wants to give us worse than a Reader's Digest condensed version. It seems that they've
only crammed the first two books together, but every one of the books would easily support it's own film. Combining them will mean re-writing the stories to the point they're barely recognizable.

Brewing a pot of coffee. No afternoon football game on the NFL channel, so I'll soon be down to twiddling my thumbs.
