RE: What's everyone up to right now?

Had an annoying meeting with a patient and my boss.
The patient complained I refused to treat him. This is the same patient I told some time again that he would need to lose weight to be eligible for surgery and, instead, put on half again what I told him to lose.
I even referred him to another cardiologist, telling him he would get thecsame answer (he did).
So he complained. He gave the impression, but didn't say it aloud, that he thinks there's a conspiracy to save money by not operating on him.
The boss had talked to him by phone and read my report/records for himself. But he honestly wasn't prepared when he met Mr. S. Stantial Bubblebutt.
Vindicated and another unhappy patient goes away to whine to someone else...

Wait... why would any hospital want to save money by not operating on a person? How does that conspiracy even work?

Reading the secular web. There's a new article on there which I highly recommend reading. It presents some really good arguments. In fact, it's allowed me to formulate a new argument against the existence of God which I think is particularly strong. (And I'd like to thank SteveII for prodding my discovery in areas I might not have otherwise considered which was key to the new argument.)
The article is: Review of The Blackwell Companion to Natural Theology

Just landed in London... Back from a 4 day weekend in Portugal.
For weather related reasons, all bays are taken, so everyone is on board the plane, waiting for a parking space.
So much of humanity's time is wasted in waiting... (someone in some movie said it)

I love shopping for meat after a holiday. 10oz steaks for $5.00.
How do you metric peeps weigh meat, kilos?

Because he comes across as a professional victim and that's how they work. I nearly told him I get paid the same whether I'm in surgery or behind my desk arguing with idiots.

One kilo of meat is quite a lot for one person, so we use the next smaller engineering unit, the gram. Your 10oz is a bit less than 300g.

Yeah, I pulled out the old Sharp Scientific EL-506A and after 10 minutes got the conversion.

Over here meat is priced by the kg, but I usually buy it by the gram.
One thing about NZ though, the meat us fucking expensive. Especially for a country that is a major meat producer. And the meat you get in the supermarkets isn't even the export quality cuts, but it may as well be.
