At best you can call Fonda's comments in poor taste, but you CANNOT treat his "How would you like it if someone kidnapped your kid" intent as being the same as THE ACTUAL REAL ACTIONS of Trump.

Brian, sometimes I wonder if you even read the posts you respond to with such vehemence. Why do you insist on comparing the two?  This is not a competition to see which side can be the most reprehensible. Trump already wins at that anyway. Trump’s border seperation policy is awful. Saying a child should be locked up with pedophiles is awful.  They’re both awful.  Why is it so hard to just acknowledge that two awful things can simultaneously exist without pitting them against each other? What does that accomplish?

As far as Barron is concerned, I’m not worried for his physical safety, but he is twelve years old, and I’m sure he follows social media.  Is it fair that a young boy should have to read something like that about himself? If you can dehumanize a child simply on the fact that he’s a Trump, you’re no better than he is.

Okay, so conversely, no one on the left being upset about the pedophile comment accomplishes what, exactly?  Does it make Trump stop taking the brown babies away from their mothers at the border?

That;s the irony of it.  The left is cornered between the effects of apathy and the misguided pursuit of an elusive high road approach to every issue.

The comments being bickered over are a perfect reflection of the situation we have right now..not just on the border, but in the argument over them in-house on the left and how that relates to why a small number of screaming racist shitgibbons managed to enact an american coup.  If you say nothing, they kidnap children.  While you;re fighting, they kidnap children.

If our standard is using kids a political means of attack on a parent .Then no this example completely works .

I understand. I hope you don't think I was trying to put words in your mouth. My only point was that words hurt. No matter who says them, really.

What's happening at the border is absolutely disgusting. None of it should be happening. At the same time, since tRump decided to run for office, people in his base have gotten much, much bolder with the hate speech. Yes, we get it from both sides of the aisle, however, it can't be dismissed that it is mainly coming from the right. It's all terrible and it's all so damning. As a country, we should know better than to behave this way. Yet we have a guy sitting in office who is pretty much leading the way for others to engage like this. IOW: if it's good enough for him to say inappropriate things, then it must be good enough for his base to do it too.

I'm not saying it's right, but they seem to be getting away with it most of the time. While both sides are guilty of saying things, the tRump administration has taken things too far with this disgusting policy. People are fed up on both sides. Sadly, the members of Congress aren't fed up enough to the point of actually getting tRump out of office.

Sometimes I wonder what sort of tragedy it would actually take to wake them all up.
