I never use the quote/multi-quote system because it is unwieldy. I'm not sure how to clean out a multi-quote chain. Once you do have it cleared, then simply use the 'Reply' button in the future. It'll save everyone a lot of headaches.
PS - Junior Member doesn't mean anything... it simply means you've made a certain number of posts here. It doesn't convey any additional perks.
He said he's using a PC before. It does actually change things in my experience, especially to do with emoticons, though I don't know about spelling. That's why I moved over to having it default to source mode because it was annoying me, and I wanted to know exactly what I was getting.

Look just below the Quick Reply Box. If there is the sentence, "You have selected one or more posts to quote. Quote these posts now or deselect them," then click on the words, "deselect them."

Emoticons are likely transformed via regular expressions. Regular expressions is (are?) essentially a pattern matching language. So, you create a pattern, and then if that pattern is matched, it will replace the pattern with something else.
It's definitely possible for words to be matched. Forums that don't allow profanity tend to have a blacklist of words (and common workarounds) that are filtered with RegEx into some other form. I wouldn't think this forum would have that turned on, however, given its stances on speech and profanity. So, that leads me to believe something else in in play. Could be wrong, of course.
More info on RegEx if anyone is interested: https://www.regular-expressions.info/

My pro-tips for operating on this forum, OP. First is to accurately use the quotation function. I can see you’re able to edit posts quite easily, and indeed utilise common forum languages and shorthand (OP is an example), so I’m not sure why you’re unable to use this when the BB code is actually very simple and user friendly.
Not doing this is both frustrating for other members who are trying to communicate with you (responding without quoting will not alert them, and if you start cutting and moving text and not adding in additional quotation tags it stymies the flow of your post at best and makes it unreadable at worst) and, to be frank, draws suspicion.
In addition, I’m not here to tell people how to write their posts, but from my long experience moderating and posting on a wide number of forums, people who refer to themselves in the 3rd person, and write in an overly verbose and tangential fashion, are often not genuine in their attempts at discourse. Again, I’m not here to tell you how to write, but the reaction you will (continue) to get from posters is one of frustration and annoyance as people will find it very difficult to decipher what it is you’re trying to say (and that’s not due to a lack of comepetencies on their part, many of our members are very well read in a wide variety of disciplines as you’ll see from perusing previous threads). People want to talk to other members, but if it feels like they’re having a conversation with a poorly programmed chat bot, they’ll soon lose interest.
Those are my pro tips - take them or leave them.

You lost me at "this", what this ? Negatio.

Can you not see them in the thread after you post? All you have to do is this:
Step 1: Click 'deselect' at the bottom of the screen at the bottom of the "Quick Reply" box.
Step 2: Click "Reply" on any post you want to reply to. Never press "Quote".
Step 3: If any time in the future when you have pressed "Reply" it quotes an old post that you did not intend to quote in the edit window, then do not press "Post Reply" and instead go back to the thread, then start at step 1 again. emjay, I just wrote a thank you/appreciate your concern to KevinM1 through Bennyboy, wrote one of my big long paragraphs to KevinM1, and, then I tried to do what you are now advising me to do, and, I will successfully do it, I know, however, it just erased everything I wrote to KevinM1, including the post from Bennyboy ! Please let them know for me. I am just going to observe the forum for a while, and, finally take the time to study the rules and the procedures you have so kindly and patiently provided me with. Negatio.

Just click that 'deselect' text; you've done it before, you can do it again. Basically if that message is showing at the bottom of the screen, then it means you'll have the dragging old posts problem every time you post until you click on the 'deselect' text, at which point the message will disappear and the problem will stop.
But after that, yeah it would probably indeed be a good idea to have a time out to observe the forum and study the rules and advice and let it sink in. Good luck.

In the beginning I saw run on sentences, fixations with word complexity and the law, in addition to grandiosity (I've got the proof and will put it here to be remembered by history). I thought these could be symptoms of mania, hypomania or cyclothymia (hence the medication comment). Now I seem them as affectations of narcissism.

@ negatio - the "I am not a troll" thing at the bottom of Losty's posts is a signature. Just like my quote from the rock band Live at the bottom of all my posts. It has nothing to do with anything you've written. It's something from before you were signed up here.

So, first I am present to the above post; I clicked on Reply. Then, the page that comes up has no Quick Reply box at the bottom at which to do a "deselect", so, above the box I am typing in, the only the post I am responding to which appears, is yours, so, I am going to gamble, because I think I have 21 this time; but probably not, because, I am not sure...I am confused because others have told me that in Reply it is automatic, and you do not use BBC code; and I cannot remember how to make it show "emjay wrote", well, all, inevitably, that anyone can do is press the Post Reply button, and, find out if either success, or failure, or some other embarrassment will happen ! It appears I am getting the drift of dealing with the box containing the series of all other messages...while I was erasing other old messages which appeared in the box, I accidentally erased where I has successful programmed my computer to say, emjay wrote, so, I typed it back in myself...
I appear to be making progress understanding deselecting extant messages in the whatever it is called box of past messages, I am so darned efficient at it I think I even erased three messages from KevinM1; Khemikal; and mh.brewer, they weren't being little dicks! Too bad. I wanted to ask them how the hell they hacked into my thread, when, in fact, they are on my ignore list ! Oh, well, perhaps I'll get my chance to tell them off later ! Negatio.
So, then, within the confusion, which is lifting somewhat, I am thinking that the Reply box does not automatically put KevinM1 Wrote; I have to do that thus:
Khemikal Wrote:; then
Then type in what I want to say... Now, I am leaving the existing reply in the message history box, because I need the BB code there, instead of searching for the BB code equations among my notes, which are as disorganized as blah...
