Going after the grieving family of a real war hero is the true face of the brand of flag waving patriotism the republicans have peddled since the 1980s.

Quote:Former McCain aides praise memorial service as ‘America’s rebuke’ to the ‘meanness and cruelty’ of Trump
Quote:Two former top political advisors to fallen Sen. John McCain described his memorial service as a “rebuke” to President Donald Trump.
John Weaver and Steve Schmidt both served on McCain’s presidential bids and joined MSNBC, where they are contributors, for coverage of Saturday’s ceremony at the National Cathedral.
“This is America’s rebuke to the current president and the politics of division and hate,” Weaver explained to MSNBC host Chris Matthews. “That’s what’s on display here, Chris.”
“What you see, particularly in the remarks by the two former presidents, is defiance,” Schmidt observed. “Defiance against this low and vile moment in our politics.”
I can add nothing to Schmidt and Weaver's observations.

It is as simple as understanding our species social nature. Humans fear change. The reaction to Obama by the right is the same reaction the religious right in the middle east has had a reaction to in more women demanding equality there. You don't live before your generation, or after you die, so all you know is what you see now.
45 isn't paying for it right now, because he is pandering to white insecurity, knowing that in 50 years whites will be a minority.
The problem with that logic, is that when you look at the history of our nation, we've ALWAYS progressed to more inclusion and diversity. On a global history scale it still remains there is no such thing as pure blood, and our entire species can be traced back to Africa.
The good thing about our species is that we are capable of shedding the fear of change. The bad thing about our species is that we are slow to change.
Saudi Arabia's rulers fear more women demanding equality, in the same way Susan B. Anthony was beaten up for wanting the right to vote.

Conservatives hate change. Of any kind. That's why they are always on the short end. Change has been constant throughout human history. Since the Industrial Revolution it began moving faster. Now, with the Information Age, it moves far too quickly for almost anyone to keep up with.... but that does not stop it.

No, they want to undo change. That's a different beast.
Even the wealth redistribution back to the wealthy is going backwards, undoing the modern changes made and returning to older societal models.
I can think of nothing they want, socially or fiscally, that isn't in this category. They want no new changes.

Free trade. I'd say a lot of the trade policies of conservatives and many of their tax scemes are untried and new.

No, free trade as well as flat tax scheme has seen practices since the 19th century. At different times the so called conservatives has championed or abhorred free trade and flat tax schemes.

Interesting fact, not certain if it was mentioned here: he was survived by his mother who is 106 years old.

Going backwards is not an option. The "good old days" were, A - not that good and B- gone forever.
Your problem is that you cannot see that which is typical of conservatards.
