How much time do you waste a day?

If you're frightened of dying, and you're holding on, you'll see devils tearing your life away. But if you've made your peace, then the devils are really angels, freeing you from the Earth.
I agree with Brian. It's all relative. Personally, I think golf is a giagantic waste of time. Probably the dumbest activity in existence. But, there are certainly others who would vigorously disagree.
I don't waste enough time to get in trouble with the boss or the wife, but I do waste enough to avoid any lingering suspicion that I am ambitious.
I represent the Golden Mean of sloth. RE: How much time do you waste a day?

But, there are certainly others who would vigorously disagree. That's why the point is to ask yourself how much time you think you waste depending on your definition of waste. It's an intuitive thing... how much time do you feel you waste a day? I encourage people to look at themselves honesty and avoid using humor to answer the question or trying to intellectualize why their time isn't "technically wasted." I understand it can be an uncomfortable thing to examine but I don't think any of us here are judging one another. I posted this out of curiosity and encourage people to examine how they can improve themselves and their situations in life. We are all pretty smart people, I'd say, but it doesn't mean we're perfect. Don't any of you guys have that moment where you're scrolling through facebook knowing there's some thing you need to get done or don't you ever feel guilty watching tv when you know you should be exercising? I suppose some people don't feel as much conflict about lounging around, which is understandable and probably speaks to different personality types. But I'd be surprised to hear anyone say they feel they waste NO time at all.

I usually poop twice a day and it takes about 4 minutes/poop. Pee about 10 times a day, from 30 seconds to a minute depending on the prostate.
Do the math.
Being told you're delusional does not necessarily mean you're mental.

There are certainly times where you do shit you don't want to do, and wonder if you can or should be doing something different, or wonder if you don't do something you could miss something. But I hate questions like this because it implies life is a script, and it is not.
Being retired, I'd say I waste none of it. As long as it's either useful or pleasurable, it's not wasted.
I exercise and watch TV at the same time. I believe that entitles me to double-bonus time wasting.
Seriously (a bit), if I have something important coming up, I decide in advance how much time I'm going to spend working toward that goal and commit to that...and I stay on top of everyday obligations, keep the house relatively straight and gas in the car...and try to get some sleep. I don't consider anything I enjoy doing a waste of time. Wasted time: waiting in line at the DMV (and practically anywhere else too); answering robo-call solicitors on the phone; responding to polls online. Non-wasted time: reading novels; watching Survivor; maintaining and making the garden; playing rummy with the wifey; sleeping at night; afternoon naps; watching cute animal videos on Fb. |
