The Mummy (the new one from 2017)
Plot:
Tom Cruise is a crooked soldier who steals antiquities while on patrol it seems. Him and a buddy unearth some crazy looking tomb, containing the dreaded mummy and it's subsequent curse. All sorts of shenanigans ensue, as you can imagine, and Tom Cruise gets drawn into a deeper darker world than he thought possible.
Thoughts:
The short answer to this is, "It's fine". Like it's not amazing, but it's not totally shite either. It's really a bit of a nothing movie if anything. What possible gets me more, is that I still really like the 99 version of this, with Brendan Fraser, so this remake didn't seem all that much needed. Well, I mean it was supposed to be Universals second attempt at starting the "Dark Universe" (The first attempt was Dracula Untold, which was shit and dropped from the Universe before they even began it), and hints at other beings in this universe as well [Creature from the black lagoon, vampires, Dr Jekyll etc ] so there's that. Not sure if this will get a sequel or even another movie in the "Dark Universe" but this was an "ok" start to what could have been a bit better.
