I went to a catholic school. I had the pleasure of being thought by those sadistic bastards the Christian brothersin the late 1970’s. By the time the word sex was even mentioned in school, some of the lads in the classhad already fathered children. The below clip is a series’s of sketches from an Irish comedian who is not very popular with the church in Ireland. At about 2.55 is a short sketch about sex education in Irish schools. He gets it spot on.

I don't get what all The people from catholic school are complaining about, honestly.
Father Goedewind was very adamant and thorough in our sexual education.
Cold hands though, that old bugger.

Pretty progressive, from what I understand. We learned the basics of anatomy, and had to practice putting condoms on bananas. Safe sex was the emphasis as AIDS was an epidemic at the time. I don't recall much mention of orgasms or pleasure though.
My kid's school is also rather progressive as they will learn about straight and gay sex. I know a couple people who are pulling their kids from the class (religious nutbags, of course). Ugh

I too was brought up Catholic and went to Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school. About the only things we were taught about sex was that it was a dirty act and a necessary evil. Masturbation was a sin as serious as murder and would send you straight to hell. The only advice on sex I heard was from a priest during my senior year. This involved when and how frequently a couple was to have sex, and the act should never be performed merely for pleasure. Birth control was forbidden, regardless of how many children a couple had. I found it odd that we should be getting advice from a man who was never married, didn't support a family, and never held down a legitimate job in his entire life. My parents told me nothing at all about sex.

I don't remember. I was in high school in the mid to late 80's.
I do remember the big hair and lots of us keeping Aquanet in business.
