What's everyone up to right now?
RE: What's everyone up to right now?
Morning coffee. It's election day, finally. It's raining out. Unpleasant for the walk to my polling station, but it won't deter me. I hope it doesn't deter anyone else.

Oh, we've played more painful stuff than that. (There's one particularly challenging Holst piece that I love, but I keep resisting the temptation to cross out the tempo directions and write in "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here.")

That reminds me -- We start on the Christmas repertoire next week. "One order of 'Sleigh Ride' for forty, please..." Truce

Printed out my picks for voting. Got a morning meeting from 10 to 11, trying to vote after. Hope I don't hit a lunch rush.

Wonder if this will still be the first thing I see when I enter the building.

That's separation of church and state in Nebraska for you.

Trying to calm doggo down. Diwali can be a beautiful and happy time if you don't give a shit about the environment and don't have pets.

Still debating which printer to buy and whether to buy it now. If I buy both a printer and the Fire 8 HD tablet this month, that will put me way over my $100 a month budget for such things. On the other hand, if I don't buy the printer now, it will end up costing more later as everything will go back up in price after the holidays. I don't absolutely have to buy a printer, but the old one definitely needs replacing. I print very little, so I could get by with my current printer, but it would be another year before they go on sale again if I don't buy one. *sigh*

Still debating the model, as well. The Canon Maxify that I like is fast, cheap to operate, and has very good quality prints. It's a real workhorse. Unfortunately, it's also rather big. It's about the size of two normal printers stacked one on top of the other. And it's 18" deep, compared to about 12" for other printers. My current printer sits on top of a bookshelf to the right of my computer. It would be rather large and out of place there. I could put it across the room, as there's a good place for it there, but then I'd have to walk over there every time I printed or scanned something. Not that I don't need the exercise, but it's just not as convenient. As an alternative, there are printers that are reasonably sized with good output (the HP Envy 5055 and the Canon Pixma TS6020), but they're both slow, have higher operating costs, and overall, I simply don't like them as much as the Canon Maxify.

So, I'm still furrowing my brow over these matters. I'll probably order the printer I like, in spite of its size, but I'll continue to struggle with the options until I do.

My polling place is in a church as well. But it's in the basement and you don't have to walk through the sanctuary to get to the voting room.

Also: I just got back from voting. My civic duty is now done. Here's hoping for change.

Watching NFL Gameday Live! and drinking coffee. I have my election night war room set up, though I may not stay up for all the results.

Eating a mega-salad from MOD 🍕.
My son built his own pizza. It's like a cake. He had to use a fork.
