Not the point Shell.
I believe the NRA supporters when they say, "Just keep them out of the wrong hands". And despite what they may think, I AGREE we need to and should.
But laws like universal background checks, waiting periods, and red flag laws wont work if all their side does is shout "NO"every time we agree with them.
Firearm worshipers, " It's the terrorists"
Safety advocates, "We agree, lets do something"
Worshipers, "NO!'
Worshipers, "It's the mentally ill"
Safety advocates, "We agree lets do something."
Worshipers, "NO!"
Worshipers, "Its the criminals"
Safety advocates, "We agree. lets do something."
Worshipers, "NO!"
Worshipers, "Its the domestic abusers"
Safety advocates, "We agree, lets do something."
Worshipers, "NO!"
It is hard to find common ground with that side when the answer is always "NO", especially when we agree that we should keep them out of the wrong hands.
This is my "wish list" not that I am going to get everything on it.
1. Universal background checks, no undocumented sales.
2. Mandatory waiting period of a week for ALL firearm sales.
3. No hording. Nobody needs 5 billion firearms.
4. No weapons of war, no big clips over 8 bullets.
5. Domestic abuse gets your gun taken away.
7. Limits on ammo buys. Again, no hording.
8. Mandatory mental health check, even with no priors.
9. Mandatory gun safes and storage always unloaded when not in use.
10. Loss of permit if your kid uses it illegally or especially if they injure themselves.
11. Only people over 21 can buy them.
12. In transport they have to be locked up in a gun safe briefcase and gun unloaded.
13. For public use, like a security guard, private detective, bounty hunter, or even for farm use for killing wild animals that might attack your stock, proof public use permit.
^^^^^^^ That is my short list. Problem is firearm worshipers still stupidly argue that list is a slippery slope when none of what I said is a call for a 100 ban on all types or all ownership.
