I thought your god was keeping you safe
RE: I thought your god was keeping you safe
None of that actually follows.  Because God exists doesn't mean that we are supposed to remain infantile and not grow up or mature in life like everyone else.  It doesn't mean that we don't still have to look both ways before crossing the street or that we needn't read the label on things before we put them into our food.  Saying that because we aren't trusting God to protect us from a level of under development and idiocy that we aren't supposed to keep or maintain in the first place says nothing about the presence of or level of our faith in that God.  And not trusting in that God adequately or at all doesn't mean that you believe the statement that "God does not exist".  So atheism wouldn't follow from any of that because they are all essentially nonsensical assertions & non sequiturs.  I'd say nice try, but the comments made really don't rise to that level.

Lol, I’m not laughing at your post, I’m just laughing because it seems so out of place even though it actually is on topic

*Bold added by me* I think belief is also a requirment of your source book?

But I agree you shouldn't remain infantile ..... I'm hoping you have grown up enough to realise your belief in santa was indoctrination ..... not far to go then  FSM Wink

What's your point?  God exists, so yes I do believe God exists.  Adding those words doesn't the nature of what I said.  Again, I would say that remaining infantile by believing in Santa Clause is not analogous.  There is good reason to believe in one and little to no reason to believe in the modern conception of Santa Clause.  It's like saying you should grow up & stop believing in the existence of unicorns, and hopefully you'll also eventually give up your belief in the existence of horses as well.  Nonsense...

Could you list a few of these reasons.

And welcome to the forums.

They are no different.  There are any number of books and debates that have been had that provide several independent lines of evidence through logical arguments and the implications of modern science that a creator of all that ever began to exist is actually an extant reality...in short, God is real.  So far, I've seen no actual refutations that actually go through and demonstrate that these logical arguments or science based evidences are false.  So the existence of God has been evidenced.  I would think, as an atheist, you would have at least familiarized yourself with this area before visiting an atheist forum. Hilarious

All that has realistically happened is that theists have erroneously convinced (deluded) themselves into believing that they have evidence for god's existence.

#1 - The fact that the entire time-space universe came into existence a finite time ago.  (Related to the Cosmological argument)

#2 - The fine-tuning of the constants and quantities of the space-time universe that make intelligent life even possible in this universe.  (Fine-Tuning argument)

#3 - The complex information contained within DNA. (Intelligent Design and/or Teleological argument)

#4 - The applicability of mathematics to the physical world - the mathematical structure upon which the universe seems to be based.  (Argument from applicability of Mathematics)

#5 - The reality objective moral laws & duties.  (The Moral argument)

#6 - The historical reality and authenticity of the existence, death, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth.  (Argument from the historicity of the salient details of the life, death, and post-death appearances of Jesus of Nazareth).

There are other logical arguments as well...  Philosopher Alvin Plantinga can give well over two dozen arguments, few if any of which have been refuted.  If the logical arguments go through, so that the conclusion follows directly from the premises, then they constitute genuine evidence, unless or until a substantive objection is made and can be sustained to demonstrate why the argument does not go through.

That's an interesting assertion, but it doesn't happen to be true.  The existence of God makes sense of the reality in which I live.  The non-existence of God does not.  Who's deluded?

No, God has been asserted without evidence  ..... supply the evidence not yours or anyone elses assertions  .....

As to your laughing that you have seen no 'refutations' you are really showing your ignorance  Arrgghh ....  and your statement (that any educated christian will concede) 'existence of God has been evidenced is bullshit ......

Lets say this in a way an infant can understand .... If I say I can walk on water, its not proven merely because you can't prove me wrong  .... As I made the statement the onus is on me to prove I can  .... I'll give you time to wrap your head around that example .....  FSM Wink
