I went back and watched the episode again on my laptop with the display as bright as I could make it...it's still damn dark. Way too dark. I get the symbolism of night and winter and all that but sheesh it would have been nice to actually be able to see what was going on.

As for the battle...I don't really know what to think. Jon had faced the dead before as had others. I would have thought there was a better plan than to send the Dothraki on a suicide mission that we all knew wasn't going to slow the dead down. But, anyone sent in first was going to get slaughtered. I guess the Dothraki drew the short straw. The fire on their blades should have helped a little but it sure didn't seem to.

I don't think fighting them during the day was an option. The dead weren't waiting for dawn so there wasn't much choice but to go with their timetable on that.

They got rid of most of the secondary characters...now we see how the rest washes out. - In the game of thrones you win or you die. - let's see how that plays out.

^ For real, though. Remember when Jon's struggle against one wight was so intense that he almost lost his hand? Damn near burned the thing right off. And then the main character gang fights THOUSANDS of them and they come out alive. Ok.

Well... That was before he knew about the effect of dragon glass and valyrian steel, wasn't it?

I figured out the best possible ending. A bunch of main characters die of starvation and disease during tonight's episode, because they totally would after a battle destroyed half their castle, they were already low on food, and injuries are making infection run rampant through the snowy castle. Then, they get to King's Landing only for the peasants of the kingdoms to have formed their own army and risen up. The peasants win and form the first democracy of Westeros. The end.

Fire is not an easy material to forge? Make up your mind - can you use fire arrows against the wights, or not? If you can - then you don't need obsidian.

Perhaps, but there are better ways to do it, than to charge head on at an enemy you've never fought in your life and can't see, especially if you have no armor and a short sword as the only weapon. And horses are not immortal.  Even if you manage to damage some zombie, but then you immediately die and come back as a zombie - you're not really helping. If the Dothraki waited for the dead to come closer and fight them at the same time as the infantry, chances are they would have lasted longer than half a minute.

When the large horde was standing outside the castle, behind the burning trench, within a the range of arrows, the defenders were not using "valley tactics", were they (did you mean "melee"?)? They were doing nothing, waiting for the enemy to break through. Castle walls and ranged weapons were invented specifically for holding off "large hordes", without being directly in harm's way. Using melee, when you have a castle and the enemy can raise the dead is pretty dumb.

2.Because something was suppose to happen doesn't mean it would work and nothing I say is knee jerk . 

3. Once again nothing you said refutes my point the charging wouldn't work, And again not the way they fight . They don't wait for anyone .

4.I said dragon glass wasn't easy to forge with and the fact they limited used fire arrows against hoarde tactics is ineffective 

5.I already debunked the trench and you were the one brought up them using arrows in the battle and no they were not at least not effectively  and might I add the night king had freaking giants 

Anyway this subjects old so this will be my last post on the matter . The night kings dead the battles over . That's that .
