Just got around to watching 2018's 'Proud Mary'. It's about a hitwoman for a organized crime family in Bahhston who seeks to leave the life after she takes in a kid she'd orphaned in a contract kill...unbeknownst to him. And as we all know goes with organized crime syndicates; They aren't terribly keen on letting folks just walk away.

Now, I may be biased because I have a slight lady-crush on the lead actress (would totally go gay for the chick). But I'm fairly certain that it was actually a pretty solid action flick. Well-acted...except for Danny Glover, who always just seems to play Danny Glover. The kid who plays her ward is quite talented. His performance definitely pulled at my mommy heartstrings.

Thumb's up.

After Darkness
Quote:As the SUN burns out, an American family gathers at the end of the world, their hopes for rescue slowly crumbling as they also confront long lasting divides amongst each other.

A supposed "sci-fi" drama starring the ever-handsome Tim Daly, in which the storyline revolves entirely around a dysfunctional wealthy family awaiting rescue at their opulent summer home. It had potential, but fell quite flat midway through the film. Very disappointing, IMO.

I assumed that at least some effort would be made to explore the scientific implications/logistic management of the sun going dark alongside the film's delve into the human condition. But no, such wasn't the case really.

Perhaps if I'd known that the film was essentially an All My Children/soap opera-esque family drama and that the nightmare climate crisis/ELE was merely incidental to the plot I would've calibrated my expectations accordingly.

Seems like my kind of my movie. Surprised I hadn't heard of it till now, though.

The many temporal paradoxes, some of which I'm not even sure have names.

The ways they killed/wound up the storylines of several major characters.

The fact they let some of the pain in the arse characters live.

The convenience of a certain super powerful character not being available until a critical part of a major battle.

It's going to be awkward going forward, isn't it? "Hey, let's just zip back to day before yesterday and leave a note to us to not eat that shawarma!"

Meh, nobody really stays dead in the comics.

But Tony's dead, that makes up for all the PITAs that are still around.

"It's a big galaxy. None of those planets have you guys." (Paraphrased.) If Danvers had been around to kill Thanos on the plains of Georgia, [i]I mean Wakanda[/], there would have been no need for "Endgame."

I just got done watching "Into The Blue".

It is a horrible mix of Miami Vice, Raiders Of the Lost Ark, Jaws, Scarface, and set in some tropical island. It is about these treasure hunters who run across old relics and find a lost ship, but they run into a lost prop plane which was used to smuggle drugs. They end up getting caught up with another " salvager" who is actually the drug dealer who lost that drug shipment they accidentally discover while trying to find the ship.

Needless to say, it was campy, a lot of the underwater escape and fight scenes I was thinking, "That is bullshit".

I don't know why I stuck through it.
