Doesn’t really matter if someone else made the choice. I’m not big on accepting blood money either. Just retroactively deduct whatever millisecond of pain my sins cost from God Man’s account and get him down off that cross that much sooner.
Even presuming to do that for me takes a level of moral bankruptcy beyond compare.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

But who would be bad Christians and who good Christians? In all honesty, there are no "good" Christians. Only varying degrees of "bad". To administer Christian doctrine; aka the Gospel to anyone calling themselves "good" is immediately shot down by Jesus. Even to the point of Him saying that He isn't necessarily included, "Why do you call me good?" There is NONE good but the Father in Heaven." ...and.... "The best on earth (John the Baptist), is the least in Heaven." So, in all reality. There are no "good" Christians according to Jesus himself! We are in a constant state of "sin". And only through Christ are we redeemed. Man cannot do anything to save himself but to submit to God, and ask for His forgiveness. And that would be pretty much daily! As ALWAYS the beef is w/ man, and those "using" Christianity as a tool to get what they want. And that includes those [for & against] Christ!

Right, you are full of hope for men are so misbegotten that their only imaginable source of even the most false hope can only come from a fictitious god of rather crass kind who is said to have inseminated his own mother in order to give himself birth so he could generously save her kind from “sin” which he had allegedly allowed and facilitated in the first place, and in which neither they nor their progenies had any part whatsoever, from a fate worse then dead which incidentally he himself purposed to inflict. The fictitious god is, BTW, as imagined by parts of this misbegotten humanity so vile so far on the wrong of distribution curve that even the rest of this misbegotten humanity would have found them singularly loathsome were it not for the facade of “prophet”, “apostle” or “saint” with which they disguised their diseased psychologies. That’s the proper application of “Christ” you had in mind? (August 22, 2019 at 9:43 am)Anomalocaris Wrote:(August 22, 2019 at 9:15 am)ronedee Wrote: Not really. You are entitled to your opinion, I'm sure through your own experiences in life. Just as I am mine. But, I won't venomously shoot yours up with holes. You have your mind pretty much made up considering your ever present, pat response to Christianity. Which btw is more fiction than any perception of it could be. But, it has theater value I suppose. Not surprisingly, what you may be lacking is openness to any new information that will change your views... or at least your attitude about Christ. This is where we differ. I'm open to all facts and change. I could give you reasons "for" Christ, if I thought it would get through. But, I know better. At least for the time being. Just chime in when you feel the need!

Interesting question. I would argue that there are no true Christians left anymore. Or at least, very few. The best Christians are probably the fundie fanatics. The people who take the Bible literally, hate the gays and the Jews, call for people to repent and stand outside protesting Planned Parenthood and the like. They're keeping it real, at least.
The most likeable or well-behaved Christians are probably the worst at being real Christians, unfortunately. I prefer the company of the latter much more than the former.

Or are there undeniable essential tenets of Christianity which make these things True Christianity? Do Christians who don't take the Bible literally, don't hate the gays and the Jews, don't call for people to repent and stand outside protesting Planned Parenthood not qualify as Real Christians in your judgment? Even if they think that they are? When you create a thing and give it a definition, but, over time, that thing becomes something else entirely, you usually change the name of that thing. A tadpole becomes a frog. You don't continue to call it a tadpole just because that was its original name.
