Male. Must occupy or have occupied physical space.
Inaginary friends do not count.
But so many of our ideas of heroes, mentors and ideals are conceptual and not physical. I think a real man is partly like my father. I filter out the bad he does and just have a shiny example of the best in him. We all do this all the time. I was just trying to nail down some of those shiny examples, but clearly your standards of having to have had breath is as far as you're willing to go.

I understand that you're a fine specimen, but what specifically do you do that makes you the real deal. Do you sacrifice for your family? work hard? I'm certain you do, but are they qualifiers for real man status?

I don’t understood where he’s going with this then.

Charles Bronson was a real man.
John Wayne was a real man.
Rock Hudson was a real man.
So were Michael Jackson, Pee Wee Herman and Liberace and Sir Elton John.
Jesus Christ? Probably not.
Fiction most likely.
Charles Bronson was a real actor.
John Wayne was a real actor.
Rock Hudson was a real actor.
That may be your hyper masculine idea of how men should behave, but it isn't reality. They are products of Hollywood.
The greatest hero I ever had in my life was my mom. And she did far more for society as a lifetime teacher than those actors.

A real man is just that.
Real.

The beauty of the whatever I do theory is it's complete lack of specificity. If I sacrificed for family, it would be manly. If I didn't, it would be manly.
If I was knuckle deep in some hot man on man...it would be manly.
I think that you're asking about (and describing) a curated role model, not manliness in the sense of a brute fact of being. Some men are certainly better people than some other men. We could call them better men...but that probably doesn't have anything to do with their man-ness. That's not the part that's better or worse. All of us are level on the swinging richard routine.

I have a grasp on reality. I don’t have a grasp on whatever point you’re trying to make with this thread.
