Is this nonsense still doing the rounds?
If we were to build something of that size today it's unlikely in the extreme we would use 1960 technology.

Not specifically, no. But why not just take the plans and shove them in a drawer somewhere? That way, when they decide they need to build a whopping great rocket again, they’d at least have had something to work off of. It’s almost as if NASA have a Burn Everything, We’ll Just Start From Scratch department.

But I suppose it was more cost effective to hitch along with the Russians or Elon Musk.
