bots and the change of the web.

RE: bots and the change of the web.
I dunno, it would be good to search for keywords and have your bot respond with an ad for a thing you were selling or to propagate an idea.

No, that's my way to say to the reader: don't believe everything you read online.

Heard about the "Big Lie" Nazi propaganda technique?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Big_lie

Quote:A big lie (German: große Lüge) is a propaganda technique. The expression was coined by Adolf Hitler, when he dictated his 1925 book Mein Kampf, about the use of a lie so "colossal" that no one would believe that someone "could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously". Hitler believed the technique was used by Jews to blame Germany's loss in World War I on German general Erich Ludendorff, who was a prominent nationalist and antisemitic political leader in the Weimar Republic.

We're speaking about the usage of "bots" to change truths and wage propaganda, advertising is not the topic.

Automation is coming I see no difference between building a bot and hiring people at 5 cents a task to mechanical turk that task. Or even older than that, pasting flyers to spread their propaganda.

My point is that people are going to bend the truth and manipulate data to accomplish their goals or less dysphemistically they are going to use tools of the game to win the game. Hopefully they are acting in good faith and if they are not hopefully one could use the same tech they use to root them out and expose them. It doesn't surprise or move me that people are using AI to accomplish the same thing they have been doing for centuries.

Changing truth is a crime in all communities. The laws that regulate and punish abusers of truth should cover the whole internet; not just a small part of it.

For example, protecting copyright was used in sites like google. Another example is Facebook's banning of abusive posts. Youtube too uses the similar techniques.

Your point is valid when we speak about a single human sharing their opinion. But when that person uses technology to automate their opinion to produce thousands -if not Millions- of spam messages then it is twisting of truth and compulsive forcing of an idea.

It's already illegal according to many sites. It should be illegal as a general rule.

That's exactly what it is. Everyone who disagrees with Atlass must by default be both wrong and a bot.

It is really shabby thinking, or not even thinking of any stripe.

If we are all bots, then Atlass is talking to a robot because why? Who is does atlass think he is talking to?

You show your ignorance by conflating so many different ideas

Changing truth, copyright protections, abusive posts are not equal and are only tangentially related. The fact is that before AI there were cadres of people who ban together to blanket areas with their propaganda, they simply used different methods like flyers or symbols to terrorize or manipulate people through convincing ideas. The word Christian is an example of conflating truths and bending a narrative to create a voting block instead of allowing the differences between theists to segregate them into powerless smaller groups prone to infighting i.e. Catholics and Protestants.

Don't kid yourself, there are very little laws that create actionable legal positions against liars just because they aren't truthful. There has to be a demonstration of damages.

I have no doubt there are cabals using hackers to manipulate markets and craft stories to bamboozle the world. This is why it is important to learn critical thinking so you can sift through the ideas presented to you and make sense of them instead of going off half cocked and seeing bots everywhere.

I have been online since the inception of the internet. I have watched in horror at how cranks like Atlass have jacked it.
