An honest question for the Republicans
November 14, 2020 at 11:49 am
How do you vote for a candidate whose policies merely support the one percent?
If we're being absolutely honest here, what policies do the Republicans implement that help you as the average American?

I predict this will be answered some version of ‘trickle down economics’, which is basically business moguls pissing down the back of your neck while trying to convince you it’s raining soup.

Read What’s The Matter With Kansas; it explains so much how the Republican Party can cement a base in areas their policy will royally screw over. And shockingly, in the decade and a half since its publication, the only thing that's changed is that the bigotry inherent in the Republicans' rhetoric has become more blatant, and, given that Trump got enough votes to make him President, it seems many think that that change is

The cousins: Making things worse for the other side makes things better for us.
Yeah, we don't get any political education in grade school.
And we don't get many cousins in college. (To be fair we have a few who are attorney's and one who is in command of an aircraft carrier. (He's offered to take me on a tiger cruise when one comes up. (That means backseat in a warbird. :drool ))

What policies are you referring to? And on what government level?
Locally (city, county, state), they tend to be more fiscally responsible when it comes to spending, taxes and social needs/works programs. These effect more than the one percent.
Is this what you meant?

^^^^^ So much this.
The when the sane call them out on it, the 1% shouts at liberals "Commie, you hate the private sector, you hate God, you hate guns." Then turn to the poor rural white, the middle class who risk losing their house or car or small business, and say "You better watch out for the other guy".

One interesting example from my home state, during the election, one of the items I voted on was a fair tax amendment. I voted for it, 55% of Illinoisans against it. Part of it was apparently because many were convinced that this would mean a tax hike for the middle class, and, to be fair, if you count the richest 3% of the population (those who get 1/4 million plus per annum) as the middle class, it might be.

Abolishing abortion will make our nation right with God.
Poor people are poor because they are lazy and immoral. They don't deserve my hard earned money. I'd rather pay to lock them up than give them hand outs.
Why would a person work hard to be successful if the government is just going to take the money and give it to someone who didn't work as hard? Rich people deserve what they have because they are best of society.

My daughter said that a neighbor of hers had been flying a Trump flag at his house. When it became apparent that Biden won he replaced it with an American flag.
Obviously you are either for Trump or you are for America.

That’s odd - when I was at school, drugs and sex were usually what we prayed for.
