Presidential history.
Seems that Grant and Nixon had more morals than the orange fuckface. And that was just a speeding ticket. I think the DOJ recommendation not to indict a sitting President should end. Trump did not just speed, or have goons break into a hotel.

I always use the number of speeding tickets a person has to determine their level of morality.

Right? What else is there.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

Trump would dodge the ticket by trying to bribe the cop. Trump lies about even trivial things, like crowd size.

If Grant had done what Nixon did I think he would have stepped down too.

There is a huge difference between white lies like, "Honey does this dress make me look fat" and responding "no", and dangerous lies like " The press is the enemy of the people".

Trump's dad never taught him to take responsibility for his actions. So if Trump is willing to lie about crowd size when that has nothing to do with policy or national security, and we have seen his constant vilification of dissent of any kind, Trump is capable of a scorched earth policy.

Still not getting it. My OP is not so much about Grant, as it is about the DOJ policy of not indicting a sitting President.

If Grant is willing to pay a speeding ticket fine without trying to bribe a cop, certainly Trump's behavior is way beyond a speeding ticket because he IS trying to bribe and or intimidate officials.

The DOJ policy isn't even a law, but a recommendation. That recommendation was not written in any part of the Constitution, not even as an amendment.

What is in the Constitution is the ability to impeach, and even the 25th Amendment.

Yes, a speeding ticket isn't a matter of national security. Never claimed it was, or should be. But Grant admitted his offense on something minor and didn't blame the cop for doing his job. Trump lies about everything even if small, and has lied about everything big too, and that makes him dangerous. Not because he won't leave office, he will. But his behavior while he was running and in office, sets a very dangerous long term tone for politics even after he leaves.

The next president that wants to do the same, but is not as bombastic, and is low key, is going to be far more dangerous.

If you speed you shouldn't. If you get caught, you only have yourself to blame. But even if you want to bitch about getting a speeding ticket, pretty sure if you got pulled over, you wouldn't hold out a wad of cash and "wink" at the cop to ignore their pull over.

Pretty sure most moral people, when they get a ticket, sure bitch about it, but show up to court. Pretty sure most people who get speeding tickets don't bribe cops or judges or imply intimidation or threaten them.
