Was it a modern day lynching? Not sure it fits the category

Was it a modern day lynching? Not sure it fits the category
I was watching CNN and van jones said it was a modern day lnyching, but isn't that taking it a little far? Sure the officer is guilty of manslaughter and 2nd degree murder but he didn't plan on kllling him and didn't know he was killing him, still wrong and brutal and he deserves to be in prison. But technically we don't know if it was racial either, we do know he's gotta go away though. Is it a modern day lynching or is that a little ridiculous to compare it to white ppl hanging blacks over anything?

An allegation of fake currency lead to summary execution. Seems similar, sure.

Let’s see. Chauvin had his knee pressed on Floyd’s neck for more than nine minutes, during which time Floyd was at various points 1) struggling 2) having seizures and 3) being non-responsive (read ‘dead’).

It certainly appears that not only did Chauvin intend Floyd’s death, he wanted to make damned good and sure of it.

You really think he purposefully killed him? He's not even being charged with that. Why would he do that? He knew he was being recorded

Once you're halfway through killing somebody, it's probably best to finish the job.

Yes. Not going to link it, since it is disturbing, but one can actually see the moment life passes, breathing stops, Floyd is dead. Chauvin just keeps on going.

Yes, I do think that, and yes, he is being charged with that. He did it on camera because he knows bad cops are rarely convicted, no matter how badly the fuck up.

I don't think it is possible to prove the killing was intentional. I think it was reckless or depraved disregard for his life, and that is what the charge is.

He simply didn't care. Suspects falsely complain about restraint so that they can try to get free. Police officers are always backed up by the union. Perhaps Chauvin was pissed off and wanted to show who was boss. That not-caring could've been racial (and Van Jones has already made up his mind) - but that is going to be hard to prove.

Who knows. Just make some charge stick and put him in jail already.

HE's not charged with anything but 2nd degree and manslaughter, I'm not sure he knew he was killing him.
