5 dead in New York.
Officer giving presser, "We are shocked" (implying that things like that never happen in that area)
I wish officials and reporters would stop saying shit like that. Firearm violence happens everywhere because guns are everywhere. Mass shootings are simply one category of firearm violence, but that doesn't make a single firearm murder, or a single suicide any less dead.
I live in a rural county, but even here I hear about firearm violence in my county on a weekly bases, even if it isn't a "mass shooting". Just last week in the next county over from me 3 people ended up dead over a shootout at a house party.
"STOP BEING SHOCKED AND START FUCKING CHANGING OUR LAWS".
Changing laws is a non-starter unless you change gun culture first.

I agree. For 40 years we had Wayne La P Asshole, selling Rambo and Dirty Harry. I think things are slowly changing though. The NRA is on the ropes, and hopefully it will die as a lobby entity.

If you agree, then why did you make the comment about changing laws?

Maybe because they’re the biggest impediment to passing sensible gun reform laws in America, what with being an absurdly powerful lobby led by gun rights absolutists?

As I said, attempts to change the laws without first changing gun culture is a mug’s game. While I think a case could be made that the NRA were instrumental in creating the current gun culture, their collapse won’t reverse it. It’s kind of like expecting your house to fall down because the architect died.

106 days into the year and this makes the 146th mass shooting. How is this NOT a problem?

According to the NRA, your Congress (both parties), most Republicans, a majority of Democrats, and a majority of Second Amendment supporters, it’s not a problem. If it were, they’d try to do something constructive about it.

The NRA was Q 40 years ago long before today's Q.
And the NRA is full of shit. Most Democrats in congress, want something done. And most firearm owners want something done. The NRA is a conspiracy cult.

If must Democrats in Congress want something done, why haven’t most Democrats in Congress tried to do something? Please name the last piece of legislation designed to reduce the number of mass shootings that was voted for by a majority of Democrats (gun control measures don’t count).
In fact, try to name the last bill introduced by ANYONE in Congress designed to reduce mass shootings.
