In between stain coats for the top of the Tenor Uke Dad’s suggesting we cut the soundhole before applying the second coat. And, since I drilled the hole for the neck, here’s a dry fit of what the top will look like (note: back, sides, neck and likely the box corners will have to be given their own stains, black cherry for all but the last one). Gentlemen, Behold! The Ke’aHe’aLele (very rough translation: tenor blood ukulele, more literally: high jumping blood sacrifice):

And now, I’ve got the hole cut in the Uke, although it turned out that cutting the soundhole after staining was a bad idea, since there’s a shitton of marks that needed to be sanded out so the top could be restained. Also, the soundhole wound up being a bit bigger than planned and the shape was a bit simpler than the Rickenbacker template. Well, at least it might be a bit louder:



No dry fit here because the stain’s still wet. Hell, it was still a bit wet (just enough to peel if touched the wrong way) when I did the last one.

Y’know, I may not even stain those box corners.

Getting prepared (i.e. drinking whiskey) for a meetup of other local expats. If history is any judge, we'll be the youngest by at least a decade, maybe two.
